September Recap (Back-to-School Fundraiser and Staff Wellness)
Last month, we did a few exciting things!
As we were preparing to distribute the 12 backpacks and 13 school supply kits from our Back-to-School fundraiser to the children and teenagers at one of our single site buildings, 88th and Vermont, our board gave us great news.
After hearing that we didn't make our fundraising goal, some of our Housing Works board members stepped up to provide all 40 children and teenagers with backpacks and kits! A big thank you to our wonderful supporters who donated towards this effort and our board for ensuring that we met our goal.
We postponed our event until we received the rest of the supplies, and now we are ready to roll! Stay tuned for pictures of this event.
In honor of Labor Day, we wanted to do a staff wellness initiative to celebrate our hardworking staff members who are on the frontlines, day in and day out. With donations from our Housing Works board members, we were able to provide every staff member with a personalized wellness gift bag and do a raffle for some big ticket items.
We raffled off...
two haircut vouchers, connected to us through one of our board members, Grace Dyrness
two wristbands for unlimited rides at Santa Monica Pier Pacific Park, courtesy of their business
an annual pass to Six Flags Magic Mountain
a private yoga lesson with a wellness gift basket from the studio's boutique, connected to us through our board secretary, Ann-Sophie Morrissette
one year of free admission for up to two adults to the Huntington Gardens
a massage voucher for Burke Williams
three "night out on the town" gift cards
three paid days off for three winners
a $100 gas gift card
a round of golf for two at Emerald Isle Executive Course, courtesy of their business
two sets of box tickets and a parking pass to a Dodgers game, courtesy of our board chair, Neil Navin and SoCal Gas
