In the spirit of collaboration, we would like to honor the following organizations as heros and leaders in the field of supportive housing.

Channa Grace, President

Mission – WORKS passionately delivers quality affordable housing and innovative enriched services. Through our support and stewardship, we build equitable, heart-based sustainable communities and encourage resident self-determination. We envision community in a way that honors our collective cultures.

The Housing Works’ HERO AWARD goes to individuals who have made significant, genuinely “heroic” contributions of time, skill, and talent directly assisting our homeless participants. Their gift of service makes a tangible difference in improving the quality of our folks’ health and mental health… leading them to greater independence and taking maximum control of their own lives. We are proud to present this year’s Hero Award to Channa Grace and the entire W.O.R.K.S. team.

SYSTEM CHANGERS: The Litigation Team for Housing Works v. County of Los Angeles

– Disability Rights Legal Center
– Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles
– Morrison & Foerster
– Public Counsel
– Western Center on Law & Poverty

The Tom McGuiness Community Leadership Award is presented each year to individuals or groups that embody the spirit of community and respect for each person as we do whatever it takes for as long as it takes to fulfill our mission to create housing options for people with limited resources. Tom is a founding board member of Housing Works; his extraordinary example of this spirit is memorialized in this award.

Mission – DRLC’s mission is to champion the rights of people with disabilities, cancer and serious illness through education, advocacy and litigation.

Mission – Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles seeks to achieve equal justice for poor and low-income people in greater Los Angeles. We change lives through direct representation, systems change and community education.

Morrison & Foerster is a firm of exceptional credentials. Our name is synonymous with a commitment to client service that informs everything that we do. We are recognized throughout the world as a leader in providing cutting-edge legal advice on matters that are redefining practices and industries.

Mission – Public Counsel is the nation’s largest not-for-profit law firm specializing in delivering pro bono legal services.

Founded in 1970, Public Counsel strives to achieve three main goals: protecting the legal rights of disadvantaged children; representing immigrants who have been the victims of torture, persecution, domestic violence, trafficking, and other crimes; and fostering economic justice by providing individuals and institutions in underserved communities with access to quality legal representation.

Mission – Western Center leads the fight in the courts, counties, and capital to secure housing, health care and a strong safety net for low-income Californians.
